What You Can Do with a Job Seeker Visa

1.Look for a Full-Time Job
- You can actively search for employment related to your academic or professional qualifications.
- You can attend interviews, networking events, job fairs and meet potential employers.
2.Convert to a Work Visa Once You Get a Job*
Once you receive a job offer:
- You can apply to convert your Job Seeker Visa into a:
- EU Blue Card, or
- General Employment Work Permit
- No need to leave Germany — conversion is done locally at the *Ausländerbehörde* (Foreigners Office).
3. Reside in Germany Legally for Up to 6 Months
- You are allowed to stay in Germany while searching for a job.
- You can rent an apartment, register your address and live like a temporary resident.
4. Travel Within the Schengen Area
- Since it’s a National (Type D) visa, you may travel for short stays (90 days in any 180) to other Schengen countries for tourism or business meetings.
5. Apply for Health Insurance, Open Bank Account
You can:
- Register for health insurance (usually travel or private until you get a job)
- Open a bank account
- Use public transport passes, city services, and more
